Service Description

In counseling sessions, you'll have the opportunity to work on the goals that will most help you. As your autism mental health professional, I maintain a nonjudgmental space in which to explore your concerns and worries about your child's development. You'll have the opportunity to learn about the relationship between autism and anxiety, and how anxiety might impact your child's emergence into adulthood. I am uniquely positioned to provide counseling to parents of neurodiverse children with autism. Why? Because of my vast personal experience working with my son on the autism spectrum utilizing ABA, social skills training, and self-regulation skills, as well as, my professional experience counseling other parents and leading an Autism Parent Support Group. Where tensions run high, counseling can help you learn new ways to communicate with your child that will support their growth and help build their confidence, as well. Most important, you'll be encouraged to develop your own strategies for managing worry and stress. I utilize a variety of approaches, tailored just for you, including internal family systems therapy (IFS), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy. Therapy for parents, caregivers, and families navigating autism and other related neurodevelopmental differences, including ADHD, intellectual disability, and other developmental conditions. Common concerns include, depression/anxiety, grief, isolation, work-life challenges, worry about your loved one's future and the ability to function independently, safety, worry about your loved one not having friends, being bullied/being taken advantage of, low motivation, self-advocacy skills, transition to adulthood concerns, stress, and caregiver burnout.
